I visited Nepal in September 2006 for the purpose of trekking in the Annapurna Sanctuary area. I was introduced to Clan Treks and Bishwa Chapagain by a mutual friend from the United Kingdom.
The level of service I received from Clan Treks was second to none, in fact a close friendship has developed as a result of the 10 days we spend trekking in the Sanctuary...

The Kaligandaki rafting begins high on the Tibetan plateau in the kingdom of Mustang. Plunging its way down through the Himalayas, the river carves the deepest gorge in the world between the two 8000m peaks Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. The beautiful scenery on this remote river makes Kaligandaki rafting trip a favourite among those looking for a short to medium length trip. The river passes through narrow gorges, alongside tumbling waterfalls, jungle with a variety of wildlife, amazing beaches, temples, and the villages of the traditional Magar and Chhetri, whose inhabitants often venture down to the riverside to meet the rafters. Being one of the holiest rivers ideal for medium length wild expedition in Nepal, every river junction on the Kali Gandaki is dotted with cremation sites and above ground burial mounds. Turbulent rapids intertwine with abrupt drops as we dodge our way down intricate chutes of sparkling water. Village terraces cling precariously to the slopes and strange snow capped peaks lounge suspended above us as we drift through the world's deepest gorge.
The Kaligandaki River, the most matured trading route and holy pilgrimage trail to the Muktinath (nirvana centre), is one of the major tributaries of Gandaki river system located in the mid-west of Nepal. This rafting is suitable for both experienced and novice rafters. As the trip begins and ends in Pokhara you need to get there one day before the trip. There are few options depending on your budget and time schedule. All of them are relatively easy to arrange and if you want your tour operator can assist you.
