Client Testimonials

I visited Nepal in September 2006 for the purpose of trekking in the Annapurna Sanctuary area. I was introduced to Clan Treks and Bishwa Chapagain by a mutual friend from the United Kingdom.

The level of service I received from Clan Treks was second to none, in fact a close friendship has developed as a result of the 10 days we spend trekking in the Sanctuary...

Karnali River Rafting

Rafting in Karnali RiverNepal's longest and largest river for rafting, the Karnali, springs forth from the base of Mt. Kailash in Tibet, the nerve centre of the universe for both the Buddhist and Hindu religions. Its tributaries drain most of the far west of Nepal, rising in the vicinity of Tibet's holy Mount Kailash and glacier of Kanziroba Himal, other small peaks, as well as Rara Lake. The Karnali rafting is one of the finest colossal volume river trips in the world, a classic expedition into Nepal's remote, unpopulated "wild west".

After monsoon rains the rapids of Karnali River are huge and intimidating, though relatively straightforward. As the river flows through some quite narrow canyons the flow of the water increases, as does the frequency of the rapids. In low water the demands on the rafter are technically tougher and equally exciting. This lowland trek combined with some of the most beautiful canyons found in Nepal makes Karnali rafting / kayaking one of the most memorable river Expeditions. These canyons flow into scarcely populated areas of pristine jungle teeming with abundant bird and wildlife. Just enough easier water to regroup and prepare for the next big challenge separates rapids like “Captivity”, “Flip and Strip” and “Gods House”. Towards the end of the trip the river gradient begins to ease as the Karnali leaves the mountains and flows out into the Gangetic plains of the Terai. The jungle thickens as the river broadens, and the pristine Beaches become bigger and more beautiful.
