The 300 kilometer long Annapurna circuit or Round Annapurna trek around the Annapurna mountain range is one of the best treks in the Himalayas. It blends diverse countryside and people with the exhilaration of crossing a high pass Thorong La (5300 m) and the never-ending views across the beautiful landscape and towering peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. When we start our Trek from Besisahar, on the way we meet the main trail and come across teahouses and Adventure Treks . Then we follow the Marshyangdi River right up its source, the high altitude valley of Manang. The Manang people are descendent of Tibet and follow Tibetan Buddhism. After Manang the Annapurna circuit follows the path over Thorong La pass and then descend towards the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath. Turning south we descend the deepest gorge in the world, the Kali Gandaki valley, visiting the fascinating trading villages of Marpha and Tukuche before heading back towards Pokhara to complete a very memorable journey.
The magnificent mountain scenery, seen at close quarters includes Annapurna 8,091 metres which was the first 8,000 metre peak to be climbed, the magnificent ice pyramid Dhauligiri 8,167 metres, once the home of the legendary Buddhist guru Padmasamba, and Machhupuchhare 6,993 metres, considered by many to be the most beautiful mountain in the world is what Annapurna circuit all about.
The Annapurna Circuit trek follows ancient paths used as trade routes between Nepal and Tibet. These paths have long facilitated the flow of cultures and religions in this remote and formerly inaccessible region. Today Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism, Hinduism and the mysterious Bon-Po religion still coexist and interpenetrate one another in this region which contains many pilgrimage sites. The unusually wide range of climatic zones in such a small area as the Annapurna Circuit path ascends from 900 metres to 5,300 metres provides a chance to see many different flora and fauna, and the different ways of living of the many ethnic groups.
