Client Testimonials

I visited Nepal in September 2006 for the purpose of trekking in the Annapurna Sanctuary area. I was introduced to Clan Treks and Bishwa Chapagain by a mutual friend from the United Kingdom.

The level of service I received from Clan Treks was second to none, in fact a close friendship has developed as a result of the 10 days we spend trekking in the Sanctuary...

Buddha
For two and a half thousand years, people have followed a religion based on the teachings of a man they called the Buddha, meaning the Enlightened One. The starting point in Buddhism is mankind and the way in which they suffer not just physical pain but the general feelings of dissatisfaction with life, the craving to achieve or have something more, the fear of change and death. It seeks to give a person peace of mind and to encourage and develop loving compassion towards all living beings. These days Buddha is known as Light of Asia in most parts of the world.

buddhaThe belief and the practice of Buddhism in Nepal dates back to the time of Prince Siddhartha Gautam, who was born in Lumbini, a western region of Nepal in about 543 BC as the only child of a Royal Family. As the epic story follows, he one day gave up his royal dignities and went in search of enlightenment. After meditating for nearly six and a half years, he found enlightenment after which he started to preach his findings to others. As Nepalese, we are proud and dignified that the heritage of what has today become both a philosophy and a religion, adopted by over 250 million people worldwide, seeded its foundation in Nepal and is considered the best country on Earth to learn and practise meditation.

To become more familiar with the life of Buddha we recommend our visitors to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha. It is the pilgrimage destination of the world’s millions of Buddhists. The sites described as a beautiful Garden in the Buddha's time still retain its legendary charm and beauty. The main attraction at Lumbini remains the sacred garden spread over 8 sq. km and possessing all the treasures of this historical area. This site, identified by the Indian Emperor Ashoka’s commemorative pillar is listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO. To the south of the pillar, you find the sacred pond Puskarni, where Queen Mayadevi had her bath just before giving birth to the Buddha. Other attractions include the various monasteries and stupas erected by different Buddhist countries. Lumbini Museum, Lumbini International Research Institute, and Kapilvastu Museum (situated 27km west of Lumbini in Tilaurakot) are yet other places to see in this region. The Kapilvastu museum has ruins of ancient capital of Sakya kingdom where the Buddha spent his youth as Prince Siddhartha.

mount-everestMt. Everest
Everest – the highest geographical location on Earth stands tall in the northern region of Nepal and has been the centrepiece of world history, even more so after Sir Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay Sherpa conquered its peak for the first time on 29th of May 1953.

While globally famous for its mountaineering expeditions, commercial organisations have successfully promoted trekking packages to the Mt. Everest Base Camp, where ordinary non-expedition travellers can also experience this wonderful creation of nature. The route leaving Namche bazaar – the famous Sherpa settlement village and the passing view of some of the spectacular peaks of Thamserku, Kangtega, Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Everest rising in front is simply breathtaking. The dream of seeing closely or climbing peak of the Mount Everest, the fascinating treasure of nature, highest peak of the world is the prime attraction for tourists longing for visiting Nepal.
